DOG PARK FAIL

I had a free morning, so after school drop off, I took Buster down to the 1/4-mile paved loop trail around the community garden, to be followed by playtime at the dog park there. Well, lazy dog gave up after two laps and I almost had to drag him through the third. Then he was too hot and tired to play (he just sat next to me looking pitiful). So we went home. Where I could have just as easily dragged him around the neighborhood for a loop...

DOG DAYS

We love when Zy visits and she is clearly spoiled...
...sometimes Buster will be allowed on the couch while Zy is here too, but truthfully, she's just a very clean and non-smelly dog, so we don't mind her up there as much. Plus, she's scared of thunderstorms and needs to be in your lap when the thunder bumpers roll.

In an effort to combat Buster's smell (partially due to his open wounds, which he constantly chews, all due to allergies of some sort - not dietary, we've tried everything), we bought him some socks to keep him from chewing. He was not amused. They lasted a week before we gave up (he started acting like he couldn't walk in them and wouldn't go out to potty unless we carried him out...)

EASTER MAZE 2019

The kids hoped and prayed that the Easter Bunny would leave them a string maze to complete instead of a scavenger hunt this year, and thankfully the bunny listened...

And they're off!
(The cold morning combined with the shining sun was too pretty to pass up photos)
And finally, SUCCESS!
Obby thought the tissue paper was extremely fun!
Fun gifts, some tasty candies, and plenty of things to keep them busy the rest of the day!
All she wanted for the Easter menu was "3-layer dip". I found her eating it from a single serve cup on top of the desk above Buster's bed (where her Kindle was charging), until I told her that her Kindle could, in fact, be plugged in to any number of plugs down at floor level...

BUILDERS AND CHANGERS

The kids put together new visitor chairs for my office:
Then they had a lesson on changing tires (Jay blew a tire on the way home due to debris on the road from the recent storms):

BUSTED (AGAIN)

Buster flap, flap, flapped his ears too hard again and busted the left one this time (he did this back in 2015 to his right ear). Pillow ear strikes again. We noticed him acting funny on Sunday and realized what had happened on Monday, so we took him in for the expected diagnosis yesterday and picked him up at lunch today after an overnight observation due to the required anesthesia.
Maybe this will be the last time?... Cross your fingers for him (and us)!

TORNADIC SLEEPOVER

Three tornadoes ripped through Vicksburg last night while Cora was at a sleepover. We knew bad weather was predicted though, so we sent her with her helmet for the occasion! Despite multiple hours stuck in the closet, she had a great time! Sarah and I texted each other throughout (not much else to do when you're stuck in the bathroom!), so I always knew they were safe (didn't stop any of us from worrying about the next hit, but at least we had reception to continually check in with each other). One of the tornadoes went right through their new neighborhood, but thankfully not their street (and their house made it through with zero damage, as did ours - none of the tornadoes were down on our south end of town). It took some planning to get her picked up the next day due to so many downed trees and lack of power throughout much of town, but we made it work (and Jay spent the rest of the day out and about with his chainsaw helping friends and coworkers clear their yards, driveways, and streets).

Tornado warning #1
Tornado warning #2 (came through even before the first was cleared)
A short break in storms gave us enough time to check for flooding around the house and gather some of the animals to safety before tornado warning #3 hit
And then all was well and the girls got on with their playdate (and stayed up VERY late, as per usual with them, but did not sleep in much)

"PUPPY" SITTING

Jay sent me a photo of the cute puppy we're watching this weekend:
Then I got home and realized how deceiving that photo was...
Echo makes Buster looks small! (And Echo is only 6 months old...)

SPRING BREAK SLEEPOVER

Cora's best friend Cara Beth just moved to the other end of town and because we were gone for a week and a half at Disney/Universal, then home recuperating, the girls were missing each other terribly. Because Sarah is extremely patient and giving, she offered to have Cora over for a sleepover at her new house, even though they're still unpacking, have already started renovations, and had family in town all week. Oh! AND they just got a pair of puppies. Patience, I tell ya!

WALKING BUDDIES

I love puppy-sitting Zy. She can get Buster moving better than anyone!
