MERIDIAN TOURNAMENT

We went over to Meridian early yesterday morning for a tournament that had been moved there from Brandon in order to support the family of a soccer coach from Columbus who passed away during the Frostbite tournament we played in back in January (the coach's final game was against the River Belles, so we really wanted to be a part of this event that raised funds for his family - registration fees went into college funds for his kids).
Game one was at 11:00, so it was pretty warm (and there were a lot of gnats on the field). The girls were so excited to be there though, and to be together.
After a good warmup, they were ready to roll!
(Cora's goal attempt turned into an assist for her teammate MC - success!)
When Cam had her turn for a goal attempt, I caught a photo of Cora in the background - just as Jay tends to mouth your words for you when you're speaking to him, Cora tends to kick your soccer ball for you in support even when she's nowhere near the ball...
It looks like the keeper catches it on a slide, but she didn't. Cam went down after being tripped following her kick, but it ended in a GOAL!
After the first game (which ended in a tie) we had a lengthy break, so we grabbed a hearty lunch (steaks!), then checked into the hotel for naps and rest time (photos below of who did what... I spent my two hours reading about the coach we were there to honor).
Game two was fabulous for our girls (they usually take half a game to a full game to warm up during a tournament) and they walked away with a win!
We had a fun, celebratory dinner that night at Harvest Grill (celebrating a good start to the tournament and one of our girl's birthdays - Addie, AKA Mad Dog, turned 9!)
The next morning we checked out of our hotel and headed back to the fields for game three:
(Cora is really getting fast!)
The final game was a loss, but the girls played really well and we thought it was a great tournament. They're definitely ready for the State Games in about a month!

AMERICAN GIRL GOES POTTER

Grambot and PawPaw sent Cora a pair of Gryffindor doll uniforms for her Easter bucket, so Tenney and Logan played dress up today.

JAMES' MONSTER FLAG

The kids had the opportunity to turn their monster art (created at school) into a keepsake of their choice. James chose a garden flag so that we could display it for all to see. Cora chose a personalized notebook (but then forgot to turn in her form and check in time...)

ENDGAME

Endgame was not a "wait and see it later" kind of movie, so tickets were pre-ordered for opening night and we met Jay at the theater after work and Girl Scouts. It was awesome!

COOKIE REWARDS

Today's Girl Scouts meeting was a good one, but the best part (for the girls, at least) was the arrival of their cookie sales rewards. Our Troop did really well this year (which will mean a big party at the end of the year and free Troop Camp for all the girls) and they LOVED getting their sales incentive awards!

EARTH DAY

The kids joined us at work today due to the school holiday AND our lab's Earth Day celebration, which included some fun events for kids (and an Environmental Lab awards ceremony).
Their buddies Will and Lauren were here today too, so that made it extra fun!
Happy Earth Day

EASTER MAZE 2019

The kids hoped and prayed that the Easter Bunny would leave them a string maze to complete instead of a scavenger hunt this year, and thankfully the bunny listened...

And they're off!
(The cold morning combined with the shining sun was too pretty to pass up photos)
And finally, SUCCESS!
Obby thought the tissue paper was extremely fun!
Fun gifts, some tasty candies, and plenty of things to keep them busy the rest of the day!
All she wanted for the Easter menu was "3-layer dip". I found her eating it from a single serve cup on top of the desk above Buster's bed (where her Kindle was charging), until I told her that her Kindle could, in fact, be plugged in to any number of plugs down at floor level...
