Ready to shine! (And loving her sparkly butterfly dress - she picked a white bow over a pink one because she said "the pink one blends in and the white one stands out!" Apparently she's graduating with a sense of fashion as well...)
One last Kindergarten report card, one more round of perfect scores. Our girl is on fire!

Cora's graduation was less of a ceremony and more a quick handing out of diplomas while the kids stood in a row, followed by their awards. No cap and gown, but Cora didn't even notice. She did notice the kids in each class who won medals and lollipops for reading and testing on the most AR books though, and was very upset that she didn't get a lollipop, so we let her have candy at 9:30am when we got home from the program (and vow to push the kids a little harder next year and let them test on books they read off their shelves in addition to the AR books that come home from the library). She also received a Physical Education Outstanding Performance award from Coach, which is fitting, since she's interested in so many sports and is constantly moving (and is pretty darn athletic, if we do say so). Since she was reading back in August, she didn't have (or need) a large improvement in her score on the STAR Early Literature exam. She did gain 75 points though and went from AR Level 0.5 in January to 1.8 in April (so she's almost to a 2nd Grade level - and she's not even 6!) We think that's a pretty big jump for such a little girl! She has truly loved her first
year at "big school" and impressed us with both her reading and math skills, as well as her confidence and sense of duty in the classroom (taking other kids under her wing and helping her teachers as often as they'll let her). Her teachers signed her yearbook saying that she has
been a bright spot in their days, and having brought home probably 90% "purple" behavior scores this year, we believe it. We're very proud of our Baby Doll
today and every day!
