SUPER SOCCER (AND SNOW CONES)

The kids were on point today at soccer and it was really exciting watching their games!
Sippin' Gatorade with Emily
Chasing "Pey Pey" (Peyton, a little 3-year-old buddy from school)
Group hug (Cari, Jamie, and Cora)
James scored 2 goals today, and one was because he was so wonderfully focused on the game that when a corner kick came right at him he hit it at the perfect time and angle to get it over a quarter length across the field and directly into the goal. He was SO PROUD! And Cora was quite furious that she didn't get any goals today, despite playing like a champ (her team was matched against the highly skilled team that they played at the first game, and even though they only had 2 players today, they still kicked our butts - but each player on our team tried SO HARD and we were extremely proud of them!) Good focus at games deserves a reward, so we went straight to SnoBiz afterward!

SCHOOL PORTRAITS, SPRING 2015

(Same backdrop as last year, great smiles by Cora, our little ham, and genuine effort on James' part. Amazing how much the kids have grown in a year's time... We won't be purchasing any of these though - daddy takes better portraits and we prefer outside/natural light shots!)

CHICKEN LITTLE

Cora made an appearance in this quarter's The 'Sip! Read below to hear Nathan talk about the joys of raising chickens and living on the Beane Farm!

SPRING-LIKE SOCCER NIGHT

The storms held off and we got to have soccer practice tonight. There were a lot of "listening" games being played at practice, so we had James join the U5 team for an entire hour before his U6 practice (because we figured the listening drills would be good for him, as this week has been as rough behaviorally as last week...)

TO THE MOON!

Or, as James explained his rocket picture to me, to "Starfire's home planet!"
(There is a picture of James, Manu, and Will in a Minecraft forest on the back, but James said I couldn't share it because it's not finished yet. It need more trees.)

GRAMMA PORTRAITS

(We grabbed these after James' portrait session, so he was kinda over it, hence the silliness to try and get him to smile more, and him getting cropped out of this last adorable Gramma and Cora photo.)

JAMES' 6-YEAR PORTRAITS

Our 6-year-old has a couple of brand new freckles - can you spot them?

JAMES' 20 QUESTIONS: 2015, AGE 6

I almost forgot to do these this year... The other night as we were driving home from the gym, James said "Mama, remember when I was 5?" Uh, yeah... it wasn't THAT long ago Bub Bubs... "Well, remember when you asked me what my favorite stuff was? I want to do that again!" Doh! (I TOLD you this boy has a better memory than his mama!)

  11. What is your favorite thing to do with Cora? Play video games
  12. What is your favorite thing to do with mama? Kiss
  13. What is your favorite thing to do with daddy? Play video games (this boy might be a bit too obsessed with video games for my liking...)

JAMES' 6-YEAR WELLNESS CHECK

49 lbs and 47"
(70% for weight and height)

Checked his heart and back again (due to Jay's history, and James' run of Kawasaki Disease), took a blood sample (I assume we won't hear anything back unless an issue comes up), and looked over his bone growth (noticeably asymmetrical on his clavicle, so we just wanted to have the doc take a look - could be due to growth, could just be him, but nothing to worry about - he's SO flexible that when he bends certain ways, he can totally freak us out with how far he can make certain bones protrude...)

Thankful for another good report, and a brave boy who didn't fuss or cry about the blood draw!

DINOS AND DADDY!

The kids were off school again today for the Easter holiday, so daddy took them over to Jackson to check out the dino exhibit at the Natural Science Museum. After climbing all over the dinosaurs and playing with the interactive centers, they went through the aquarium (always a favorite - they insisted that the giant alligator turtle is, in fact, a grandpa turtle), then outside for a hike (and walked further than we ever have there before). Once they got tired and hungry, they moved over to the playground for a picnic lunch and play time. Daddy called it quits when the sun came out blazing. The kids protested going home, even though they were hot and exhausted (as clearly evidenced in that last photo...)

When I talked to them later tonight, they told me all about their awesome day and how much fun they had out adventuring with daddy. Sure makes me happy that the kids get to experience such things!
