James has a couple new tricks... Over Thanksgiving, James said his first word. "Cat". It's not like his "Mama", which he just uses these days when he's complaining about something and wants me to fix it, or his "Dada", which he uses CONSTANTLY. When he says "Cat", it's because he sees one of the cats. We think he picked it up from his exersaucer, which repeats "Cat" every time James presses the button, mostly because when we refer to the cats, we call them kitties. And we're always telling James to say "Hi Kitty". Sometimes he does it, but more often he just says "Cat". Fun, eh? We've been trying to catch it on video, but James does not perform well for the camera... Anyway, we've been watching our friends' cats this week, and one of them is a little kitten. James had never met a REAL kitten before, and it was love at first sight. He thinks the kitten is hilarious. Here's a quick video of James laughing it up while the kitten, Jazz, chases a laser light (which James also chases a bit... See? We knew having cats prepared us for having kids...)
His other new trick came out of nowhere. Maybe he just taught himself through this teething experience, due to all the excess salivia in his mouth. Or maybe they taught him at daycare. Who knows? It's funny though. Remember as a kid how you would (or at least COULD) make big, slow spit bubbles when you opened your mouth wide? Well, James has mastered that skill. He does it mostly when he's whining, but it's still cute.
