Here's how her birthday went down...
She woke up to us singing Happy Birthday, and a brand new bike, courtesy of her parents:
Daddy made her cinnamon rolls as a special treat:
Mama made mini cupcakes for her to take to school to celebrate her special day with her class:
After school we did our usual (trip to the gym), where I'd hoped to get photos of her riding her bike around the track with her brother. Didn't happen. Our gift is currently a present fail. She doesn't like it. I think the fact that it wiggle and wobbles has her a bit freaked. She's only ever rode the dump truck, so she's not sure how to stay balanced. Hopefully she'll start to at least give it a try so that she can learn, but we're not pushing her.
After the gym, we met Daddy for dinner at her favorite restaurant, where she ordered her usual (quesadilla and rice) with a special treat of lemonade:
Then she got to have another special treat (ice cream!) and another rendition of Happy Birthday from her parents and brother. We didn't call the waiters over or put her in a sombrero, since we're pretty sure that would have freaked her out.
After dinner we went home to call Gramma and open the gifts she sent. Cora is particularly impressed with the peg stackers and doctor kit, though the baby doll clothes came in at a close second.

Next on the agenda was Skyping with Grambot and Pawpaw. Cora was all about talking with them!
But as soon as we opened their gifts (a light table and accessories, and some awesome books), she could care less about the computer and just wanted to build. As did James. Pretty sure both kids are going to get a LOT of use out of the light table, as well as the stacking pegs (Jay too, probably, since he was already fighting with the kids over pieces...)
Finally, as we turned off the computer and started to settle down for bedtime, we handed over her presents from Auntie Robyn and Uncle Stephen, an awesome book and a HULA outfit. Cora was all about the lei and the book, but had zero interest in dressing up for us (it was past her bedtime at this point, and she was a tired, teething mess).
Luckily, James was more than happy to oblige us:
And that's what a 2-year-old's birthday looks like around here. Another year in the books, and another day full of reminiscing and making new memories. Happy 2nd Birthday Cora!
