On our way up to Lassen today, we took the somewhat longer route through Chico in order to visit the Sierra Nevada Brewery, where we ate lunch, enjoyed 2 free samplers (AHA members get two free 4-beer samplers at SNB), took a self-guided tour, and spent more money in their gift shop (hello $20 bottles of fancy beer) than any other gift shop we wandered through on this vacation! The food was really good and the brews were obviously delicious, but we had a great time looking around (and taking a nice long break from the car!)

| Copper sinks! (well, copper everywhere, actually) |
| Hands-free "Bigfoot" door opener (SO cool!) |
| Keg bike racks |
| The main bar |

| Inside the brew room (looking down from the overlook) |
| This is where they hold company/staff meetings. The room is filled with barstools and high tables instead of benches or folding chairs. Jealous much. |

| Wort chiller - big one! |
| James picked this Bigfoot hat from the gift shop as his souvenir (the one souvenir he asked for all trip). Between his daddy and Eli and Uncle Davey all wearing hats on this trip (new for Jay, since getting the PBR hat from the beer rep at Martin's, not for the other guys), I think he felt left out. And really, who can resist Bigfoot? |
After a harrowing near-death encounter with a semi truck coming around the mountain in our lane on Hwy 32, Cora fell asleep and James went back to playing his Kindle. We stopped in Chester for groceries, then wound around the east side of the park to land at the Hat Creek Resort for a couple nights and days of volcanic adventure!
