After 9.5 years living in the Deep South / Tornado Alley and constantly losing power due to storms (sometimes for an hour or two, sometimes for 3 days...), we finally made the decision to save up specifically for a generator! James is thrilled that we'll now have access to LIGHTS and a place to charge his Kindle, and Cora is pleased that we won't lose a fridge and two freezers worth of food.
Next up on the emergency preparedness list? Stocking an emergency supplies backpack/cupboard and saving up for a tornado shelter (that one will take a while - they're far more expensive than a portable generator).
