James is doing his darndest to learn to crawl, but he just doesn't quite understand the full concept. He can get his knees up under him, but when he digs his toes into the carpet to push off, his arms (with elbows planted firmly in front of him) keep him from gaining even an inch. This, understandably, makes him pretty mad. We've tried to re-position his arms and show him how to pull himself forward with them, but he just yells at us, gets frustrated, and ends up head down with his butt in the air and legs straight, sucking his thumb. And he usually ends up tipped over onto his side. Here's the general sequence (check out those big toes, digging right in):

Yesterday we went down to Catfish Row and checked out the new playground that our church helped build, hit the Farmer's Market, and had breakfast at the Highway 61 Coffeehouse:

James is also practicing back bends this weekend. Maybe watching his Mommy and Daddy do yoga is already rubbing off on him? He can hold this pose for about 15 seconds:

Today James tried his second flavor of juice, for medicinal purposes. Rather than prune (since we can only find it in huge jugs and neither of us like it), we tried baby applejuice. He wasn't impressed. He may have drank half an ounce. Hopefully that's enough to gets things moving...

And the crawling attempts continue today...

Cute outfit, right? We love our boy in dinosaurs! James' grandma bought this for him way back when I was still pregnant, and he's finally fitting into the bottoms now (size 3-6, which is what he's been wearing since he turned 2-months-old, but his thin waist means that while the tops and onesies fit great, his bottoms have been barely hanging on for the past 3 months, so we'll definitely get another month or two of use out of his size 3-6 outfits!)
