BIRTHDAY REVISITED

Now that his Grandma and GGmama are here, James got to celebrate his birthday AGAIN, lucky kid!
He got a cool fridge magnet set that teaches the sounds of letters and plays the alphabet song:
Some new books and clothes:
A neat snack container and some new snacks:
And his very first potty:

And no, we will not be potty training James anytime soon. I had just read that it's a good idea to have a potty around and let him get used to it's presence, well before we even START showing him what it's for or how to use it. Honestly, he can't even walk yet (though he did let go of me and stand on his own for about 5 seconds this afternoon, then dance around while barely holding onto me), so of course we're not potty training. Between his separation anxiety and insatiable curiosity these days, he does spend a lot of time following Jay and I into the bathroom though, and we figure if we're not going to have any privacy anymore, we might as well explain to him what we're doing. So he is getting a LITTLE training, I suppose. Today, he just thought it was fun to take the center portion of the potty out and use it as a bucket to store his toys in...
