PRACTICING PREFOLDS

Cora's newborn prefolds are now prepped and ready for her, so Jay and I figured we better start practicing. There are a variety of ways to use prefolds: as simple inserts or "doublers" inside the pocket of pocket diapers, trifolded and laid flat into diaper covers, or folded in various ways and "Snappi-ed" or pinned (yes, with those "old school" diaper pins), then covered with a diaper cover. Since we aren't using pocket diapers with Cora for at least a few months (and stuffing inserts doesn't require any sort of practice anyway), we focused our efforts this evening on mastering the 3 common folds: the Angel, Twist, and basic Wrap. We folded and we Snappi-ed. Then we folded some more. I think we're pretty well prepared now, as long as Cora lays as still as a stuffed animal... I practiced on the teddy bear, while Jay had the monkey:
(And yes, Jay is a VERY good sport about letting me take photos for the blog)

Even James participated (and mostly cooperated) and let his Daddy practice on him (though wiggly 15-month-olds, in my opinion, are NOT well suited to prefold folding and Snappi-ing... we'll definitely be sticking with our AIOs, pockets, and FLIPs for the toddler)!

(And no, that is NOT a newborn prefold. We just happened to have a large prefold on hand, received as a free bonus from my favorite online cloth diaper retailer)
