It plays white noise for 23 or 45 minute increments: heartbeat, rain, ocean, and whale sounds. The whale sounds are weird and the heartbeat is not convincing to me at all, but Cora (and I, and Jay) love the rain. Puts us all right to sleep :)
No idea whether the Sleep Sheep works for 5-month-olds, this is our first time using it. James sleeps like an angel with his humidifier for white noise though. Or, at least, he did. We didn't move it down to his new room (because there was nowhere to place it that he couldn't get into it and mess with it...) Now he sleeps with his Rockabye Baby music playing all night long on loop on Jay's iPod. Works like a charm :)
