A DAY IN NEWPORT

After our morning run and breakfast and some general hanging out, we got cleaned up and headed down to Newport (the house we rented was in Lincoln City). We stopped at Yaquina Head Lighthouse to search for some new birds (and got a few for my life list!), went to Rogue Brewery's Public House for lunch (beer was awesome, food was awesome, and the kids' food trays were awesome because they were actually frisbees, but the service was TERRIBLE), then met Robyn and Stephen and Christopher, and Robyn's sister Amber and her twin girls Megan and Elise, at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, where we walked through shark tunnels, checked out sea lions and cool off-shore birds (like puffins and auklets), and let the kids run wild in multiple play areas. Everyone was sufficiently tired by the end of day, which always spells success in my book, and it was SO GOOD to see my best friends and their amazing little man!

(I do, in fact, have a picture of myself with Robyn and Stephen, but it's on my dad's camera, so I'll add it in here when he sends it to me)

Snacking on gummies on the way back to the beach house, puffin souvenir in tow:

Milestone moment later in the evening: James' first time playing a video game
(When he started, he was holding the controller upside down - ha ha!)
