ERDC TURKEY TROT

2.75 miles at a much faster trail pace than I'm used to (plus another 1.6 miles afterward to bump up the mileage a bit), on still sore/tired legs from the weekends' race, but it was worth it for the homemade mini apple pies and hot mulled wine refreshments afterward!
And I had "Super Sophie" (turkey hat borrowed from the refreshment table for the photo) to run with:
She won best dressed female for her Super C shirt ("C" for Christmas in today's race) and cape, and received a little stuffed turkey as her prize. It was a nice break from grant proposal writing this morning.
This Brit organized the event and ran the whole race in his turkey costume (after running the course once before the race to be sure the trail was clear). He came in second (the first place runner did it on 18:30!), and we learned after the fact that this is the same guy who passed us in the last mile of our Big Dog 20-miler on Saturday, coming in second place for the 50K. So why wasn't he sore and tired like we were?...
