Since we let daddy open his birthday presents in bed this morning, I didn't force him to pose for photos. I did get one of him with Ned at David's party though, so that'll work to document Jay at 37, right?

| Here are the kids helping me bake Jay's birthday cake (and clean up afterward) on Friday night. We made him a Chocolate Stout Candy Cane cake and it was very good, though a bit dense (and we added Cool Whip to cut some of the chocolate)! |
Other than presents in bed and partying at Team Mitchell's house, Jay spent his birthday enjoying donuts for breakfast and pizza for dinner (his choice - I said he could have whatever he wanted), and as much down time as we could manage while not completely overhauling Cora's closet (moving much of our "adult stuff" upstairs, like Christmas decor and wrapping paper and old photo albums). The kids play in Cora's closet almost as much as they play anywhere else in the house, and they love pretend camping in there, so we made room for that. The kids inherited a teepee from one of our coworkers, and we'd planned to put it in the closet as part of the whole camping thing, but decided we wanted to utilize the low clothes hanging rod at the back of Cora's closet for her dress-up clothes, so the teepee currently resides in the middle of Cora's room. Instead, the closet now has room for all the kids' dress-up clothes (with plenty of room to grow), we repurposed the pretty white baskets from Cora's changing table to hold hats and tiaras and other accessories, we moved in one of her doll cribs and the boxes of baby doll clothes and her little red chair, and we emptied out the bottom shelf so that the kids could use it as a cave (they watched The Croods all weekend long...) They're pretty happy with the outcome, and it feels good to finally have that closet "kid safe"!
