We met up with Gabriel and his family (brother Isaac, mama Michelle, and daddy Lucas) and the Kennedys at the Children's Museum in Jackson today to celebrate Gabriel's 4th birthday! The kids ran around for 3 hours (rarely all together in the same place though...) and had a great time playing and learning and climbing and dancing. We went ahead and got a yearly membership, since we anticipate visiting the museum a lot this summer on the days that are too hot or rainy to do anything else (or when we go to Jackson for other reasons and have an hour or so to spend playing, and now we won't feel guilty for going and not spending hours and hours there), and because Cora is finally old enough/tall enough to really play with everything, and because daddy is out of school and has lots more free time this summer (and also because our family membership for the 4 of us will pay for itself in just two more visits - seriously, why do they charge ADULTS admission when we are too old/tall to play with most things and are basically just burning calories chasing our munchkins from one activity to the next?)

| Milking their new museum membership for all it's worth |
| "Look mama, I caught a great, big catfish!" |
| They had no idea how to play this dance game... |
| I chased her EVERYWHERE and often caught up with her climbing on something she shouldn't have been... |
| Look! All the big kids in the same place at the same time! |
I had fun quizzing Cora to find the letters of her name and put them in order all by herself:
"C, O, R, A! I did it!"
| James, Cora, and Gabriel getting vertical |
| Mr. Al spinning hoops for Will and Cora |
| This rock-mover toy always holds James' attention for the longest of any other |
| James made a scary eyeball in the "Outside the Lines" art area |
| Isaac and Lauren, cute as can be |
| Boat racing with Will and Gabriel |
| Dancing at the blue screen (Gabriel wearing a "superhero cuff") |
| Building random things and swatting Christina with noodles... |
| "I'll get you daddy!" |
| Only posing because I begged them to, not because they wanted to (it was long past nap time by this point and Cora was fading fast) |
| Dancing on the light bench on the way out the door (after which we went to get gas for the car and beer to take to another party, discovered and fixed a flat tire due to a nail puncture, then headed to one of Jay's coworkers' house for their annual crawfish boil, at which we forgot to take photos, so just trust us that we had an awesome time visiting with friends and eating spicy food while the kids used up every last bit of energy they had left for the day!) |
