We ended up being without power for about 36 hours this time, which isn't too bad considering how many lines and poles needed to be repaired around town, but was dangerously close to the cutoff for having to consider throwing away everything in the fridge and freezers... Luckily, we packed the important fridge contents into coolers around the 34 hour mark (of COURSE we did - surely that's what made the power come back a couple hours later, right?) and hadn't so much as sneaked a peek into either freezer, so we should have been ok through the 48-hour mark. In the meantime, we charged up our phones and Kindles at Martin's (they were surprisingly NOT busy, and we stayed for hours, eating and drinking and hanging out with the Kennedys, who were also without power) and played cards by candlelight (while "saving" a few of the beers from going bad...)
