SWEET JUDE

In the beginning, we aimed to keep the cats away from James as much as possible. It was never a problem with Mouton. He just wasn't interested. Jude, on the other hand, has been a little "mama cat" since the start. If James cries, she's right there trying to see what's wrong. Or she's circling your feet and meowing to encourage you to remedy the situation ASAP. She likes the way he smells, and she loves that we let her snuggle with him now that he call roll and push himself away if need be. She is so very patient with him too... in the past few weeks, James has become more and more interested in the cats: squealing in their faces, grabbing their tails, "petting" their heads (smacking is more accurate, though we're trying to teach him to be "Gentle James"), and even holding on to their skin and fur with his death grip. Mouton tends to run away as soon as we get him free, but Jude just tolerates it. She even lets him kick her belly. Anything to be near the baby. And this weekend, they even shared James' new "toy" (his nursing necklace, purchased in the hopes of keeping him awake longer while nursing, and protecting my delicate skin from his pinching fingers):

Cute, eh? We're lucky to have such sweet cats.
