DECKING THE HALLS

We started putting up lights last week (and pulling down the last of the Halloween and general fall decor...), but it wasn't until today that we got down the Christmas tree and ornaments and stockings and Santa hats. We cranked up the holiday tunes, burned some evergreen-scented candles, and let the kids play a real role in decorating this year. They were great helpers with placing hooks on ornaments and putting them on the tree (and we only had one casualty - whew!), adding decals to the windows, and setting up their little wooden nativity. We had to rearrange their ornaments a bit once they went down for nap (the bottom half of the tree, especially the side next to the box of ornaments, was a little overloaded), but we were impressed with how patient and careful and interested they were this year. It was pretty cool to put the tree up as a family!

We still have another little tree to decorate upstairs (to hold all of Jay's 30+ years of series ornaments) and a few more strands of lights to put outside, plus the candy canes and snowflakes, so I'll post a completed Christmas decor, Lindsay-style, once we're all done.
