SET THE CLOCK BACK BREWATHON

Jay hasn't officially joined the Delta Brews (an American Homebrew Association sanctioned group that encompasses Vicksburg, Western Hinds County, and the South Delta, which Sandy leads), but as soon as he graduates, I'm crossing my fingers he has time to. Between their weekly get-togethers at local restaurants with well-stocked beer coolers, monthly meetings, and frequent brewing sessions, I know he would enjoy himself. And every daddy deserves a break now and then, especially one who has been working full time at work, graduate school, and the homefront for 2.5 years straight! After the success of his first brew last month (his blood red Halloween Brew), he tracked down a recipe he wanted to try, ordered the ingredients, and scheduled himself for a 9pm-midnight session at the Delta Brews 25-hour Brewathon (a 'teach a friend to homebrew' event), as his one break this weekend from writing an 8-page term paper. He had a great time, and will hopefully have a deliciously sweet and crisp brew in about a month (he used a LOT of honey)!

The final report from the event included 19 batches of brew (totaling 88 gallons!), 44 people coming and going throughout the day, and a lot of coffee consumed!
