KARA'S 6TH BIRTHDAY

Kara celebrated her birthday with a last-minute party at GymSouth and our kiddos were more than happy to join the crowd and jump out any remaining energy that they had leftover from Mason's party... (Again, sorry about the blurry iPhone pictures... They're even worse here due to the constant jumping and running, and poor lighting.)

At the bottom of a very deep pit that was covered on our previous visit here. I guess older kid parties get to use the scarier equipment?... As I was initially panicking, Cora nonchalantly started chucking foam blocks up at my head. Thanks for that Baby Doll. Eventually this pit was knee-deep in foam blocks moved over from the other pit...

There were a LOT of kids here (especially for a last-minute party!) and many of them were significantly older (ages 8-9, which is much older than 4-5 year olds in my opinion). They moved all the portable mats into the foam pit and started having "boat battles".
That was all well and good until Jay got involved and just started tipping them off. Splash!
As you can imagine, we were all exhausted at this point (I did my long run this morning, followed by refueling with donuts and birthday cake...) and wanted to go. It didn't help that the older kids were getting rowdy after the cake break and we started to fear for the safety of our clearly tired and floundering kiddos. And we'd only been there an hour. We toughed it out for another 30 minutes then begged the kids to not have a meltdown about having to go home, at which point we all crashed for 2-hour naps. Oh thank you thank you thank you for that!
