Whew! Today was a long, busy day (for me) - up at 4:20am, running from 5:00-6:00am, work from 7:00am-2:45pm (with a strength workout in there on my lunch break), parent-teacher meeting at 3:00pm (more about that in a separate post), chores and errands, soccer practice from 5:15-7:45pm (we always get there early for a coach meeting and stay late to help the academy coach pick up all his cones and mini goals), dinner (for the parents - the kids ate at the soccer field), showers and bedtime for the kids, then back to work from 9:45pm-1:15am (bat sampling!) Pretty sure the rest of May is going to be just as busy too... The kids have their last soccer game on Saturday, which Cora will only attend half of because she has to get to the dance studio for ballet portraits (and I'm going to miss James' last game because of it - boo). Then next week is her dress rehearsal and spring recital. Then the following week is kindergarten graduation and the awards ceremony, and end of school year parties. There will be a couple of camping trips. And a trail race. And a visit from Gramma! Then the kids will start DayCamp at the YMCA (no summer school this year - Cora is old enough for DayCamp, which means they get to swim and play sports and do cool craft projects every single day - they are SO excited!) Crazy May is on the way!
Annnnnyway... Tonight was the last soccer practice, so Coach Emerson kicked it up a notch with double soccer ball keep-away as a warmup (for the kids that got there early), and then a mock World Cup tournament for both the U5 and U6 kids. As we dropped his gear at his car at the end of the night, the kids thanked him for a great season and gave him high-fives.
I asked James if I could take a picture of his Batman shirt and he immediately stepped into pose...
He's handsome and he knows it!
(P.S. Jay told me that during a lull in conversation on their way home - we drive separately due to work and always split the kids up for the return trip, for a little one on one time - he asked James what he was thinking about and he replied "I'm just thinking about snuggling with mama." He has me wrapped around his little finger...)
