ROCKY SPRINGS COOKOUT

After another long nap late in the afternoon (James and I finally just woke up Jay and Cora at 4:30pm after 3 hours of sleeping...) we decided to be spontaneous and pack up our splashing and cooking gear and head down to Rocky Springs for an evening cookout along Little Sand Creek. Buster was happy to get to come along, but the poor thing didn't have much room in the back of the Jetta between the kids' giant carseats... We had tentatively planned to stay through sunset, but the no-see-ums came out while we were eating dinner and ate us alive, so we had to hightail it out of there!
No really, I'm happy to be going on this adventure.
There's our smiley dog! Hunting for tadpoles and crawfish.
Thanks for the new camping gear mom and dad! Bummer it took us this long to use it for the first time (when not actually even camping... we need to find time for a trip soon!), but it works great! I think we're going to plan a camping trip just down the road here to Rocky Springs sometime soon - the campground was surprisingly sparse - had we only known!
Somebody (not us) rigged a rope swing
Collecting giant rocks...
...and throwing them
