SUNDAY GOODBYES

Sunday morning was our last bit of time in Oregon, so we made the most of it. We had breakfast with Jenny at the Real Deal Cafe before she had to hit the road back north, met up with the Bacon and Sanchez families at another local playground/splashpad for a few hours so the kids could play and the adults could chat, then had a lengthy lunch (unintentionally - they had a 150 person anniversary party going on at the same time) at Callahan's Mountain Lodge (where I worked as a hostess and waitress for 2 years while I was in college) on our way south over Siskiyou Summit. It was a great trip that ended with some sad goodbyes - it's always hard to leave when you don't know for sure when you'll see each other next.
Goodbye Jenny - thank you SO MUCH for coming down to see us!
It just amazes me how well these boys play together - they love each other so much!
Leo walked the perimeter a few times
Cousins all in a row!
And Manu scooped up there and forced to smile and scream too
Kisses from Cora and Addy nearly broke him...
Callahan's has changed a lot since I worked there in 2000. The lodge burned down and was rebuilt, bigger than before. There's even a waterfall in the parking lot now, which the kids found enchanting.
Patio dining at it's finest! Beautiful views, pretty flowers, plenty of sun shades, no other patrons, and dozens of hummingbirds to entertain me!
One last photo with the Sanchez crew
(we didn't realize it was blurry until it was too late and we were all on the road home)
We love you guys!
The expected 5 hour trip ended up taking over 6 hours due to construction traffic north of Redding, but Cora enjoyed the extended break at a rest area following her post-lunch nap.
