Alex (of the California Sanchez crew) has been in town for work this week, so we made dinner plans with him and the Kennedys tonight. We hadn't been to 10 South yet, which is a new restaurant in town, high atop a downtown building with pretty awesome views of the city and the Mississippi and Yazoo Rivers. Christina and Al had gone for their anniversary and said the food was pretty good (this is actually the second restaurant opened by the owner of ROCA, one of our favorite places to eat as a couple - we never took the kids there because there are actual tablecloths and fancy glasses...), so we thought it would be fun. We were right. The food was good, the service was good (and faster than expected), and the atmosphere was kid friendly (we were one of several tables with kids, including our friends the Hancocks, who happened to show up not long after us!)
That boy is beyond beautiful. Seriously.
And Cora cracks me up with her version of posing with the restaurant sign...

My Mississippi Sunset cocktail
(amaretto, vodka, pineapple juice, and a splash of cherry)
Hugging on Alex when he arrived and telling him her life story
We opted for a slightly more indoor table (so as not to have to fuss at the kids constantly to not stick their hands or books or crayons over the edge, and to benefit from the fans - though luckily it was a much cooler August day than we've been experiencing lately!), then later learned that the roof over this section is retractable (so we'll have to come back and eat under the stars when the sun starts to set earlier and it's not so hot).

Talking with Coltin about his library books and their first weeks back to school
