Pumpkin carving used to be a big event for us every October. We'd each get a pumpkin or two, and spend 2-3 hours/pumpkin carving intricate patterns. We'd often get together with friends and make it a pumpkin carving party. They always turned out so cool. Then we had kids... Last year, we bought pumpkins, but never actually got around to carving them. This year it took us two days to carve the simplest of pumpkins...
Yesterday James helped by carrying the pumpkins into the driveway for me (just kidding):
But his enthusiasm quickly waned...
I managed to get both pumpkins scooped out, while intermittently chasing James around the yard (and culdesac). Jay studied inside, while Cora napped. By the time I finished cleaning out the pumpkins, I was exhausted (and filthy), so we retreated to the house to bake the seeds:
This morning we ate a caramel apple (from the new Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory that opened here in town) for breakfast (with bacon and sausage, to round out the meal):
Then, once we had Cora down for her morning nap (which ended up lasting an unheard of 3 hours!), we proceeded to actually carve the pumpkins:

We decided to keep it simple (and QUICK) this year. A pumpkin for each of our munchkins: James' pumpkin has 4 canines to represent his newest teeth (still working their way in), and Cora's pumpkin has one lone bottom tooth (which we think is starting to develop under those gums):
