HEY JEALOUSY

Everyone told us that one bonus of having Cora while James was still so young is that there would be little to no jealousy. And for the most part, that has been true. From the day we brought her home, James always showed preference for the parent who wasn't holding Cora, but he very rarely showed actual jealousy. In the past couple of weeks though, jealousy has been creeping in...
I mentioned last weekend that James decided immediately that he would NOT be sharing his old Bumbo chair with his sister. Luckily, Will has outgrown his and is letting us borrow it for a while.
These days, James occasionally swats at his sister (if she's touching one of HIS toys). Sometimes he tells her "No" while doing so. And usually just her hand. Sometimes he tries to push or pull her out of the way (if he's changed his mind about wanting to be near her). And sometimes he'll just make grumpy faces in her direction. It's not bad though. It's actually mostly cute (since he is pretty gentle, most of the time).
In related news, James has also shown a bit of regression with having Cora around. Not much, but enough for us to take notice. He wants to be held and rocked more than ever. He'll suck (or bite) on a pacifier now and then (especially if he sees her with one). And he always wants to climb up into her stroller (or even the basinet).

However, James is also extremely sweet with his sister. He still loves to give her kisses (especially "Night Night" kisses) and pet her head. He'll pat her back (as if he's burping her) or her belly (not sure why, exactly). He sometimes "asks" to hold her. He'll give her a hug if we hold her out towards him. He likes to lay his head next to hers when she's playing on the floor, or lay his head on her lap if she's sleeping in the stroller or in one of our laps. And he tries to soothe her if she's crying, via rocking (in the carseat or bouncy chair) or pacifying (which she usually won't take from him). It's so very cute.

Ah, siblings. What would you do without them? Right James? (Um... James?...)
