Jay stopped by my office this afternoon and asked what our chances were of getting "babysitter Elizabeth" to come over this evening on last minute notice so that we could attend Martin's tasting of Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp Across America. My answer? Highly unlikely. Unless she is the one asking us to let her babysit, she seems to be hard to tie down, especially without much notice. Luckily, I heard Cari talking outside my office, and since she had literally just offered to babysit in "payment" for our donation of my older Garmin GPS watch to her boys' budding cross country careers (unnecessary, but hey, it's hard to turn down babysitting offers...), I sent Jay out to inquire. Sure enough, we had a date night planned within minutes.
The bonus? The beer rep ("T") that was visiting to show off the brews also had some surprises stashed away for Jay (as one of Martin's most loyal customers, friend to Lisa and John - the owners, and rare lover of Pabst - just like "T" - though only ever ordered after a craft brew, something about the follow-up being just right?...) You should have seen the smile on his face when he put this hat on (and he doesn't even wear hats!) I guarantee you it will be worn for all future brewing endeavors!
We really needed this mini getaway tonight and are very grateful to Cari and Mike (and Jacob, who did most of the work corralling Cora, we hear) for taking care of the kids for us. Thank you Jungs!
(We're told she refused to sit still long enough for dinner, even though it was pizza, chased their poor kittens all over the house, and forced Jacob to carry her around. Meanwhile, James sat calmly with Jase watching a movie. The difference between our kids is so wide its unbelievable sometimes...)
