GIRL SCOUT PROJECT AND PRIZES

Today was our last project driven Girl Scout meeting of the school year (there is still an end of the year party and camping trip on the horizon!) The girls put together kits to hand out to homeless people with items they purchased using the donations they received during their cookie booth sales. The kits include items like toiletries, snacks, and water bottles. Each girl will keep the kit in her parents car until it's needed, and they all felt really good walking out of today's meeting with something so tangible that they can do to help others - it was really sweet!
 Meanwhile, the Tagalongs played games...
After the project, we had 3 giant boxes of "cookie sales incentive awards" to hand out. Mysti wasn't sure how to go about it, so a few of us moms took charge. I called each girl up individually and listed her awards while a couple other moms gathered her items. As each girl returned to her seat, she was cheered and congratulated by the entire Troop, and it was wonderful seeing how happy they each were and how happy they were for each other! (We had warned them before we started that not every girl would receive the exact same items, as some girls sold more cookies than others, so they were prepared and understood.)
That cow is now named "Daisy" (of course!) and sleeps with Cora every night. She was very proud of her awards and has been using her journal every day.
We had some time to spare before Martin's Cinco de Mayo party started, so we went out to the playground with a few of the other girls and ran wild for 30 minutes. "New" (to them) playgrounds are always extra fun!
