The annual daycare zoo field trip was today, so we took off work and took the kids. And Jenny! (On a side note, it was pretty awesome to have inadvertently missed out on all the drama at work, what with the looming potential government shutdown)
Coltin was pointing at all the groups of animals and counting. ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR! He was so cute! He counted all the way up to twelve. Then James got interested and joined in. Of course, James' counting is always sporadic... 2, 3, 6, 8!
The flamingos were putting on quite the show. First time I'd ever seen that...
It had gotten pretty warm by lunch time. I tried rolling up James' pants, but he was still sweating. And then he was sweaty AND silly looking. And silly...
I forgot Cora's Beco, so she spent more time than usually in the stroller. Though we did pass her around a bit. It was super hard keeping her hat on her today (so she ended up with a sunblock mini mohawk at one point in the day).
James rode the carousel (the leopard) and wasn't the least bit scared. Maybe he did it because he saw all his classmates riding along. The guy running the carousel yelled "Yee-haw!" at James every time we passed him, and by the end James was yelling it right back.
To end the day, we took the kids on the zoo train for the first time. Cora loved getting snuggles from her Daddy, and James enjoyed sitting with me (though he was scared of the tunnel).
And of course, 3.5 hours at the zoo without naps resulted in a very quite ride home...
