After the splash pad, we headed down to the Beane Farm to pick up our weekly supply of farm fresh eggs (we generally go through about 18 a week at our house, and we forgot to request a delivery to work before the weekend). Before we got down to business, the kids got a tour of the new chickens and coops. While Cora was too timid to enter either coop, James went right in with Nathan to meet this year's hens and feed them. Then they went next door to the veterans coop where he avoided the one mean rooster and collected the fresh eggs from the laying boxes. If you don't think he was proud of himself for doing such a task, you would be highly mistaken. Next stop was the shed, where the 5-week-old baby Silkie Bantams are hanging out. Oh goodness are they just the cutest chickens ever, and they're only going to get cuter as they grow up! Cora finally settled into the farm life and pet one of the Silkies, then even allowed it to sit in her lap for a photo op for Mr. Nathan. Thank you Nathan and Heather for the tour (and the ever tasty eggs)!
