| The kiddos were wrestling a bit before bed last night and at one point Cora kinda clobbered James by climbing on his back and grabbing him around the neck, which brought him to the ground. Rather than fight her off, he just tried to keep moving and get away from her (crawling). He never cried out in pain, but we noticed as we were tucking him into bed that he seemed bothered by something and wouldn't say what (perhaps he just didn't realize what was hurting), so we thought maybe he was just tired (we had a busy afternoon of swimming with the Sanchez and Kennedy families then dinner out at The Hat). Well, this morning he told Jay that his neck hurt and Jay discovered that he was having a hard time turning completely to the left. He gave him some ibuprofen and headed off to school, but when James started crying as he was unbuckling him from his carseat once there, he worried something might be really wrong, so off to the doctor they went. Turns out he has a neck sprain and the doc recommended that James spend a quiet, sedentary day at home to give it some time to heal (since school involves running and jumping and napping on the hard floor...), so after a quick stop at mama's office while daddy attended to a few things, the boys headed home for some TV/movies and couch time. Fingers crossed he feels better tomorrow (I know how uncomfortable neck sprains can be) and the slightly elevated temp (99.7 an hour after taking the ibuprofen) they detected at the doc's office doesn't turn into something (since the doc couldn't find anything else wrong with him and didn't understand why his temp would be elevated). |
