HALFWAY THROUGH

Just 2 more swim lessons to go after today...
Today I saw her jump off the side and swim to her instructor, swim backwards all the way across the shallow end of the pool, dive in with her hands in a "V" above her head and again swim to her instructor (wish I'd grabbed video, but I wasn't expecting her to do that!), and dive down solo in the shallow end to retrieve a sunken toy car over and over again (this is the "treat" for following directions during the lesson). She loves swimming more each day and we're really happy with how well she's listening to Mr. Mathew and following his instruction. Since we aren't able to get James the same private lessons (Mathew is now booked solid through the end of July - good for him, bad for us), we're trying to watch the lessons closely so that we can do some of the drills with James ourselves... He's been working mostly to slow Cora down, a lesson we need to learn anyway, often by holding her back and having her practice slow motion moves, or simply having her do half the move usually required for a specific task, then adding the second half after she's demonstrated her ability to chill out. It's working, and she's doing so well!
