James' buddy Adler (who he sees most often during Cora's dance classes, while Adler's sister Hazel attends the simultaneous 6-year-old combo class, but also at the YMCA daycare and at local races) turned 9 and celebrated with his friends and cousins by eating pizza and cake, and by spending an hour playing all sorts of video games in a mobile gaming truck. The truck rental included two gaming coaches who kept all the kids engaged and everything running smoothly. It was pretty cool, and James LOVED it (they had MineCraft and MarioKart!) We could certainly see ourselves doing something like this when he's a little older (not many of his friends are gamers yet, and James' skills are thus far limited to the Kindle and Playstation, so the Wii and Xbox controllers were a bit confusing to him - and his mama...) It was a fun evening for all of us and we really enjoyed getting to see the Mason family outside of dance and running!

There were two gaming stations outside the truck too, so us adults pulled on our jackets (it was COLD) and used those, since the kids preferred to play inside. We had to grab a group shot at the end of the evening:
