STAR WARS: EPISODE 7

A couple weeks ago one of our Lego Club friends texted us about getting tickets to Opening Night of Star Wars: Episode 7, and even though it was a school night, the next day was basically a second party day and only a 60% length day, so we decided to take the kids. They'd watched the first 6 Episodes over the past couple of months, so they were prepped and excited! We showed up early with our Star Wars t-shirts and Chewbacca blanket, and settled in for the show!
We all loved it! There were a couple semi-scary parts (for the kids), but nothing like Episode 3. The show went until 9:30pm, so the last half hour was a little tough on their tired selves (trying so hard not to fall asleep, so they were a bit fidgety), but they made it. I think it was worth going to Opening Night - the crowd interaction before the show was just so much fun (light saber fights in the aisles, and excited fans commenting on costumes and themed t-shirts) and the reactions during the movie totally amped up the kids (especially when certain characters made their entrances or references to past movies were made - the kids happily whooped and clapped along with the crowd!) It was a packed theater, and we probably knew at least 1/3 of the audience (small town, and lots of science nerds as friends and coworkers) - my boss and his family sat right next to us. We hope the kids keep this event stored in their memories just like Jay did when he had his first theater Star Wars experience. Good times!
